Lovelace Eve Hair, 95, of Buena Vista, GA, died on December 18, 2012, in LaGrange, GA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Hess officiating.
Mrs. Hair was born in Decatur, GA, on August 31, 1917. She was the daughter of the late John Lovelace Eve and Isobel McDonald Eve of Americus, GA.  Mrs. Hair graduated from Georgia Southwestern Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Business in 1936.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hair was predeceased by her husband, Roswell Malcom Hair, her brother, William McDonald Eve, and her son Jonathan Roswell Hair.
Mrs. Hair was a member of First Baptist Church of Buena Vista, GA, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She also taught Bible Study at Magnolia Terrace for 15 years. She was one of the first female Deacons of the First Baptist Church.  Mrs. Hair was a local correspondent for WRBL News, WTVM news, and WDAK radio, often reporting from her home office. She was a writer for The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer for many years. Mrs. Hair sat on the Board of Directors of Marion Memorial Hospital for many years.  She served in numerous offices in local, state, and national PTA. She was the Editor of The State of Georgia PTA Magazine for many years.  She traveled the country as a National Spokesperson for PTA teaching about issues of child health and well-being for 3 decades.
Mrs. Hair was a politically minded person who worked on various local, state, and national boards to help facilitate better lives for everyone. She was on The Board of Directors for Columbus Technical college, a member of The Gracious Ladies of Columbus, a member of The Peanut Brigade and traveled the country helping her friend, Jimmy Carter, get elected to the Presidency of the United States.  Mrs. Hair was the Womens’ Chairperson for Georgia during the Elections of Governor Carl Sanders and Governor Jimmy Carter. Mrs. Hair was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and worked in various locations around the country.
Mrs. Hair is survived by her sister, Lochlynn Eve Wiley of Cary, NC; her daughter, Lovelace Eve (Penny) Hair Kemp of LaGrange, GA; her son David McDonald Hair of Buena Vista, GA. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Sloan Eve McGlaun (Otto) Moore of Black Hawk, CO; Sam Hair and Casey Hair of Tazewell, GA; one grandson, George R. (Trey) McGlaun, III of Stone Mountain, GA; one great-granddaughter, Madison Eve McGlaun of Douglasville, GA.
