Luverne Phillips

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Luverne Phillips, age 85, of Ellaville, GA died Saturday morning, July 19, 2008 at Pheobe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Unity Fellowship Church in Ellaville with Rev. Clifford Braxton officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM at Unity. Burial will follow the service in the Ellaville Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was born April 4, 1923 in Houston County Alabama, the daughter of James Edgar and Claudie Dudley Owens. She worked with her husband in Phillips General Store in Ellaville and was a homemaker. She attended the Ellaville/Schley Co. Senior Center and was a member of Unity Christian Fellowship Church. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Averett Phillips and one son, Billy Wayne Phillips.

Survivors include two daughters, Dedra Gilley and husband Bob of Tampa, FL, Frances Heath and husband Ronnie of Ellaville, three sons, Averett Phillips and wife Brenda of Ellaville, Benny Phillips and wife Alice of Covington,GA, Earl Phillips and wife Barbara of Powder Springs, GA, two sisters, Wylene Holmes of Panama City, FL and Ann Burke of Okeechobee, FL, one brother, Bobby Owens of Columbus, GA. Nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers will include Greg Phillips, Glen Phillips, Kenny Phillips, Jamie Raybon, Gene Heath, Julian Krevere and Lee Guest.
