ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Martha Delene Holloway Allison, age 85, of Americus, GA died early Tuesday morning, March 26, 2013 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM, March 28, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Hugh Harbort and Rev. Wendy Peacock will officiate.
Mrs. Allison was born October 27, 1927 in Schley County, GA, the daughter of Mary Gratham Holloway and Lyman Lynward Holloway. She retired from Manhattan Shirt Factory after 40 years. Mrs. Allison was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Penny Smith and husband Marshall of Americus, Martha Ann Stokes and husband John of Bronwood, GA, Cathy Ricard and husband Alonzo of Americus, Rose Huff and husband Emory of Americus; one son, Steve Allison of Americus; one brother, Berry Holloway and wife Ruth of Albany, GA; one sister, Katie Toms of Santee, SC; and special friend, George Land of Americus. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Boyette Allison; brother, Lynward Holloway; and sister, Elizabeth Barwick Brown.
Pallbearers include Todd Coe, Christopher Smith, Damion Ellis, Cody Goodall, Jonathan Wallace, and Allison Goddall. Honorary pallbearers will include George Land, Willie Barwick, Bebe Herrington, Mack Herrington, Dinah Franks, Joyce Williamson, Gary Williamson, Joy Cross, Gary Cross, Cheryl Harbuck, Oscar Harbuck, David Keene, Dale Keene and Steven Mathis
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. The family will also receive friends at 313 Myrtle Springs Road, Americus.
