Marvilyn D. "Cissy" Harvey

Mrs. Marvilyn D. “Cissy” Harvey, 79, of Americus, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on November 12, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11:00AM in Ellaville Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Bankhead and Bro. Troy Fripp officiating. Burial will follow in Ellaville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Ray, Matthew Ray, Alan Bone, Greg Baughus, Anthony Wall, and Darriel Streetman. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Chip Sanderlin, Dr. Chip Veal, Jay Veal, and Trey DeVane. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mrs. Harvey was born December 21, 1944, to Marvin DeVane, Sr. and Virginia Durham DeVane in Americus, GA. She worked at the Bank of Ellaville for 33 years before her retirement and loved helping others. Mrs. Harvey enjoyed reading and fishing, but most of all spending time with her family and being a loving mother. She was a member of Ellaville Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Harvey, a brother, Marvin DeVane, Jr., and her beloved dog, Zero.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Harvey and his fiancé, Jenny Buchanan and Rusty Harvey and his companion, Debbie Chavers, all of Americus; two sisters, Carlynn DeVane Kirby of Ellaville and Vangie DeVane Sanderlin and her husband, Charles of Americus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Ellaville Methodist Church, PO Box 74, Ellaville, GA 31806.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Perfect Care for their love and compassion throughout Mrs. Harvey’s stay there and to Pruitt Hospice for the care given during her final days.
