Mary L. Walden

Mrs. Mary L. Walden, 87, of Cusseta, GA, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. There will be a private family service at a later date.

Mrs. Walden was born in Columbus, GA, on April 10, 1937, to Hollis Alford, Sr. and Thelma White Alford. She was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. Mrs. Walden loved her family and looked forward to large family gatherings and meals, especially at Christmas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Walden, Sr., her son, James Walden, Jr., a granddaughter, Amanda Jones, and her siblings, Hollis Alford, Jr. and Betty Jean Thames.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Pennington of Cusseta, GA, Delores Walden (Mike Creamer) of Buena Vista, GA, and Denise Schlaeger of Savannah, GA; by five grandchildren, Jeffrey Glisson (Brandy) of Pine Mountain, GA, Jason Glisson (Evonne Brown) of Buena Vista, GA, Joseph Quarles (Sara Quarles) of Cusseta, GA, Robert Quarles (Michelle) of Cusseta, GA, and Christa Jones; by nine great-grandchildren, Madison Urzua (Jesse Urzua, Sr.), Katelyn Quarles, Lexi Golden, Logan Quarles, Mattie Quarles, Trevor Cabe, Georgia Cabe, Gage Glisson, and Kayleigh Glisson; three great-great grandchildren, Layla Glisson, Raiden Cabe and Jesse Urzua, Jr.; by a daughter-in-law, Wilma Walden of Glenville, GA; and her beloved dog, Roxy.
