Mary Fiveash Wilkinson

Mrs. Mary Fiveash Wilkinson, 81, of Americus, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Salem Methodist Church in Americus with Rev. Mark Carter and Rev. Michael Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in DeSoto Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Horne, Brock Gurley, Mike Gurley, Brett Sellars, Josiah Wilkinson, and Chase Burns. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00AM until service time.

Mrs. Wilkinson was born June 21, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to Collis and Evelyn Fiveash. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilkinson was retired after many years of service as a Rural Mail Carrier. She served as Executive Committeeman from 1988-1989 for the Georgia Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and in 1989 she was elected Vice President until 1991 when she was the first woman to be elected President and served from 1991-1993. She also served from 1995-1996 as the Georgia Provident Guild Director for the National Provident Guild. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden and working with her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thad H. Wilkinson, Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Tommy Wilkinson and his wife, Susan of Black Mountain, NC, and Thad Wilkinson, III and his wife, Sally of Rising Fawn, GA; her daughter, Molly Sellars and her husband, Will of Ellaville, GA; a brother, Jimmy Fiveash and his wife, Kathy of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Sara Holmes (Colin), Brett Sellars, Brandi Sellars and Josiah Wilkinson (Hannah); two great-grandchildren, Ingrid and Liesel Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews.
