Maude L. Messer

      Mrs. Messer was born April 4, 1928 in Taylor County, GA, the daughter of the late William Henry Layfield and Nettie Sue Layfield.  She had worked at Dairy Delite and W. T. Tondee Grocery Store in Ellaville.  Mrs. Messer was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church.

     Mrs. Messer is survived by one son, Roger Messer and wife Debbie of Americus, GA; one daughter, Connie Greene and husband Eddie of Ellaville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amy Carpenter and husband Joshua, Bradley Messer, Andrew Greene and wife Amber, Brock Greene and wife Mary Beth; six great grandchildren, Anna Kate Carpenter, Finn Carpenter, Kyle Greene, Colby Greene, J. B. Greene, and Cutter Greene.  Mrs. Messer was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Doc” Messer.

     Active pallbearers are Josh Carpenter, Brad Messer, Andrew Greene, Brock Greene, Kyle Greene, and Colby Greene.  Honorary pallbearers are Anna Kate Carpenter, Finn Carpenter, J. B. Greene, and Cutter Greene.   

     Visitation will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.  Charitable donations may be made to United Hospice, 708 East 16^th Ave., Cordele, GA  31015.
