ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Mildred Pearl Thrasher, age 87, of Ellaville, GA died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at VistaCare Enter at Franciscan Woods in Columbus, GA. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 13, 2011 in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Bryan Bentley, Reverend Brooks Partain and Reverend Robert Orr will officiate.
Mrs. Thrasher was born May 16, 1923 in Etowah County, Alabama and was the daughter of Virgil Davenport and Velma Thornhill Davenport. She worked for many years as a telephone operator, worked at Manhattan Shirt Factory and was a homemaker. Mrs. Thrasher was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters and son in laws, Phyllis and Stephen Kalt of Anna, TX, Jeanne and Billy Harper of Plains, GA, Paula and Danny Harmon of Americus, GA; one brother, and sister in law, Billy and Frances Davenport; three sisters and brother in law, Mary and Larry Brackett of Gadsden, AL, Agnes Rodgers of Attalla, AL, and Dot Southers of Gadsden, AL. Also surviving are six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Thrasher and two brothers, Horace Davenport and Milford Davenport.
The family of Mr. Thrasher will receive family and friends at the home of Jeanne and Billy Harper, 337 Rabbit Branch Road, Plains, GA.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, P.O. Box 103, Ellaville GA 31806 or to VistaCare Center at Franciscan Woods, 2425 Williams Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
