Mrs. Mittie Wallace “Mitt” Carter Sellars, 92, of Ellaville, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Michael Hammond officiating. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Pallbearers will be Will Sellars, Jimmy Harrison, Mike Harrison, Kris McCorkle, Steve Broadhurst and Lee Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Anne Fletcher and Mrs. Blanche Palmer.
Mrs. Sellars was born October 14, 1930 in Sumter County, GA to Walker Grady Carter and Esther Stewart Carter. She was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sellars was retired from DFCS, having worked in Macon County and Schley County for 30 years combined. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Timothy and Thomas Sellars; two sisters, Mary Eddie Carter and Jane Myers; and a brother, Walker Carter.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 72 years, Henry Sellars of Ellaville; three children, Pat Gordy of Ellaville, Jim Sellars and his wife, Shari of Ellaville and Ben Sellars and his wife, Melissa of Watkinsville, GA; six grandchildren, Niki Kitchen (Chet) of Dawsonville, GA, Sarah Manucy (Scott) of Ellaville, Emily Jaynes (Bryan) of Buena Vista, Jill Sellars of Cumming, GA, Kelli Sellars of Nashville, TN, and Haley Sellars of Savannah, GA; six great-grandchildren, Cash, Conner, Owen, Tate, Jack and Scarlett; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hopewell UMC, PO Box 22, Ellaville, GA 31806.
