MSG (Ret.) Jonathan Clayton Payne, 72, of Box Springs, GA, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, in Box Springs, GA. Services will be private.

MSG (Ret.) Payne was born October 31, 1949, in San Antonio, TX. He was in the United States Army where he served during Vietnam.  MSG (Ret.) Payne was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He enjoyed listening to and playing music. A hard worker, he was always busy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sloan Rogers and a granddaughter, Cassie Olsen.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Payne of Box Springs, GA; a daughter, Shawn Brown of Box Springs, GA; a brother, Ricky and Tammy Payne of Rome, GA; one grandchild, Link Durham of Mauk, GA; many great-grandchildren; friends and neighbors.
