Murray Ellis

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Murray Ellis, age 77, of Ellaville, GA died early Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. Ben Foxworth will officiate.
Mr. Ellis was born October 12, 1932 in Macon County, GA and was the son of the late Roy Ellis and Velma Hambrick Ellis. He worked at Champion Home Builders and with Hambrick Construction for many years. Mr. Ellis helped to build the Roland Jones Field (League 27) and the Post Office in Ellaville. He also worked at Metalux and in later years he owned Murray's Place. Mr. Ellis served in the Army, was a member of the American Legion Post 191, an had served on the Ellaville City Council. He was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Ellis; three sons and two daughter in laws, Mitchell and Janet Ellis, Michael Ellis, Roy Lynn and Susan Ellis all of Ellaville; six grandchildren, Michael Damion Ellis and Sara of NC, Leah Ellis Clark and Jack of Ellaville, Matt Ellis and Holly of Ellaville, Colby Ellis and Andrea of Forrest, MS, Luke Ellis and Melissa of Americus, and Brittany Ellis of Ellaville. Seven great grandchildren also survive.
The American Legion, Post 191, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. Watson-Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
