Murrel Hackley

Murrel Wright Hackley, age 77, of Cusseta, Georgia, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, in Box Springs, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Cusseta First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hudson officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Hackley was born in Cusseta, GA, on September 1, 1939, to Felix and Bobbie Riles Wright. She had worked as a mail clerk with the Burnham Corporation. Baptist by faith, she was a member of Cusseta First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.  She loved spending time with her family and her dog, Prissy. Mrs. Hackley enjoyed working in the yard and around the house. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Hackley.

Survivors include her son, Randy Hackley and wife Teresa of Cataula, GA, daughter, Sheryl Smith and husband Greg of Box Springs, GA; two sisters, Shirley Smith of Cusseta, GA, and Mary Decker of Spokane, WA; three grandchildren, Brandy Thompson, Mathew Thompson, Alisha Hackley; and five great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Thompson, Kaleb Biddle, Kayden Biddle, Timmy Thompson, and Sawyer Leroy Thompson

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista was in charge of arrangements.
