Myrtle Nell Tyler Grier, 88, of Mauk, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Fuller and Reverend James Allen officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Wilson Grier, Chris Conkle, Ronnie Wiggins, Philip Peavy, Erik Conyer, William James, Don Emerson and Ricky Grier.
Mrs. Grier was born October 25, 1923, in Marion County, GA, to Joseph Monroe and Jessica Lucille Wall Tyler. She was a charter member of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she served as clerk, Sunday school teacher and any job that needed doing for the church and cemetery. She was a homemaker and life long resident of Marion County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years, Norman Grier, by 2 grandchildren, Wimberly Conkle and Greg McCall, and by a son-in-law, Johnny McCall.
She is survived by two sons, Clide and Mary Grier of Mauk, GA, and George Grier of Pensacola, FL; by two daughters, Betty Sue and Howell Conkle of Columbus, GA, and Bernice McCall of Mauk, GA; by a brother, Louis Tyler of Box Springs, GA, and a sister Lucille James of Ellaville, GA. Seven Grandchildren, Sherri Wiggins, Fran Reynolds, Michele Conyer, Pamela Edmondson, Chris Conkle, Laura Koonce, and Angie Peavy and 13 Great-Grandchildren, Caleb Peavy, Philip Peavy, Jessica Peavy, Luke Peavy, Elizabeth Koonce, Hannah Koonce, Mattie Edmondson, Glenn Edmondson, Gracie Conkle, Ella Kate Conkle, Landon Wiggins, Sarah Reynolds, and Emily Conyer also survive.
Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these arrangements.
