Nancy Gayle Vanlerberghe

Mrs. Nancy Gayle Vanlerberghe, 78, of 151 Magnolia Lane, Americus, GA, passed away on November 21, 2013 at her residence.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church,  332 S. Lee St., Americus, GA on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Ellaville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a time of reflection beginning at 7:00 PM.  

Mrs. Vanlerberghe was born on February 23, 1935 to the late Cecil Simons and Velma Horle Simons in Aloha, Michigan. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mrs. Vanlerberghe worked with Middle Flint Mental Health and Ideal Nursing Home as a registered nurse.   She was preceded in death by a son, Rob Vanlerberghe.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew “Pops” Vanlerberghe of Americus; a son, Steve Vanlerberghe of Americus; a daughter, Shanon Royal of Ellaville; seven grandchildren, Steven Vanlerberghe, Brad Vanlerberghe, Andrew Vanlerberghe, Nicholas Vanlerberghe and his wife, Anna, Leandra Lumpkin and her husband, R.T., Zack Royal and his wife, Rebecca and Jeremy Royal; five great-grandchildren, Camron Vanlerberghe, Tripp Lumpkin, Kylee Lumpkin, Bradley Vanlerberghe and Bryson Vanlerberghe; a brother, Bob Simons of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Donna Davey of Troy, MI and Dorothy Pedigo and her husband, Chuck of Port Huron, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund, 332 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
