Mrs. Patsy Faye Tyler Tatum, 87, of Americus, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on December 31, 2024. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, at 3:00PM in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Americus with Pastor Martin Dillon officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Mrs. Tatum was born July 4, 1937, in Buena Vista, GA to Ted and Helen Pilcher Tyler. She was a longtime faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Americus. Mrs. Tatum enjoyed sewing and quilting as well as painting. She loved spending time with her family and always had a smile on her face. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Tatum, two brothers, Reuben Tyler and Waymon Tyler, a brother-in-law, Ernest Fultz, and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Tyler.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha McCrary and her husband, Chuck of Americus; a grandson, Justin McCrary and his wife, Holly of Tifton, GA; two great-grandchildren, Cora Beth McCrary and Tatum McCrary; two brothers, Ronny Tyler (Patsy), and Ricky Tyler, both of Buena Vista, GA; two sisters, Arlene Fultz of Dublin, GA and Gayle Helms (Tommy) of Waxaw, NC; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Tyler of Tazewell and Mariane Tyler of Buena Vista; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Mattie Marshall Center or the League of the Good Samaritan at Magnolia Manor https://www.magnoliamanor.com/donate/ or the Sumter Humane Society at http://sumterhumanesociety.org/
