Mr. Paul Amos McAllister, 82, of Dadeville, AL, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Buena Vista Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside beginning at 2:00PM. Due to Covid-19, face coverings are strongly encouraged and please practice social distancing.
Mr. McAllister was born December 6, 1938, at the end of the Great Depression to Wesley and Ufa Hart McAllister in Marion County Georgia. Paul graduated in 1956 from Marion County High School. He remained close friends to his class mates of ’56 his entire life. After high school, he found himself in the nightmare of the Cold War while serving in the US Army in Germany. While in Germany he put his expertise as an excellent sharpshooter to good use by serving as a member of the elite marksmanship team. As a member of this amazing group, he and his comrades earned countless awards and accolades. After an honorable discharge, Paul returned to Georgia where he met and married the love of his life, Sandra Moore. They were married on October 23, 1964, in Americus, Georgia where Sandra was born and raised. Paul and Sandra had 4 beautiful children, Valerie, Steven, Randy and Michael. They moved to Lake Martin, Alabama where they both enjoyed Paul’s retirement from Norfolk Southern Railroad after more than 30 years of employment. Mr. McAllister loved working in his garden and growing gorgeous flowers that the entire neighborhood enjoyed. He loved fishing from his dock in the spring and enjoying the many blessings bestowed upon him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Ufa McAllister, a brother, Wesley, a sister, Lois, his daughter, Valerie and his help mate of more than 53 years, Sandra.
Paul is survived by his 3 sons, Steven McAllister (Tammy) of Primm Springs, Tennessee, Randy McAllister (Lora) of Castroville, Texas, and Michael McAllister of Dadeville, Alabama. 4 grandsons, Joe Allen (Kristi) of Fargo, North Dakota, Matthew McAllister of Quitman, Georgia, Josh McAllister of Castroville, Texas, and Luke McAllister of Primm Springs, Tennessee; 1 granddaughter, Abigayle McAllister of Wetumpka, Alabama; 1 great-grandson, Waylon and 1 great-granddaughter, Maddie.
Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
