Mrs. Phyllis Ford-Thornton, 79, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Columbus Hospice.
Mrs. Ford-Thornton was born in Fulton, NY, on January 21, 1945, to George Kenneth and Vivian May Smith. She attended God’s Holy Tabernacle in North Carolina and Kairos Church in Marion County, GA. An amazing woman of God and intercessor, she loved to minister and draw people to the Lord. She traveled extensively to Israel, Greece, Canada and other countries to spread the word of God. She was a great, teacher, mother, sister, and loving person. Mrs. Ford-Thornton was selfless and enjoyed helping others. She loved her brother and spoke of him often. A great joy in her life was her dog, Tiny Bubbles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Thornton, two brothers, George Ford, Jr. and Walter Ford, and a sister, Barbara Dingman.
She is survived by her beloved brother and his wife, Chester “Chet” Ford (Marilyn); by her pastor, Audrey Hall; two daughters, Emily Ramirez (Carlos) and Luz Santiago; and her dog, Tiny Bubbles. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends also survive.
Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
