ELLAVILLE, GA --- Ms. Rachel Estelle Kirby Elliott, age 85, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Ga. Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ellaville, GA on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Robert Orr, Rev. Brian Fuller and Rev Mark Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00.
Ms. Elliott was born January 24, 1933 in Hartsville, AL to the late Newt Kirby and Marcella Clemens Kirby. She worked as a seamstress before her retirement. Ms. Elliott was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 191. Ms. Elliott loved baking. Ms. Elliott was preceded in death by two children, Mary Alice Elliott and Cecil Lamar Elliott, and three brothers, McArthur Kirby, James Kirby, and Doyle Wayne Kirby.
Ms. Elliott was survived by one son, Richard James (Jim) Elliott of Galveston, TX, three daughters, Linda Sanchez of Moultrie, GA, Doris Jean Hinkle of Prattville, AL, and Sandra Faye Campos (Pedro) of Newton Grove, NC, three brothers, Charles Kirby (Carlynn) of Ellaville, Robert Kirby (Sharon), and Harvey Kirby (Melody) both of Summerville AL, two sisters, Joyce Ann Cowart (Sammy) and Shirley Hornbuckle, both of Summerville, AL. Fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild also survive.
Jerry Franklin, Terry Kirby, Steven Fripp, CJ Yarbrough, Pete Yarbrough, Jr., and Mike Jaskulski will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Fripp, Allen Kirby, Gary Kirby, Rodney Barnes, Rufus Yarbrough, and James Haynes
