Ralph James Taylor

Mr. Ralph James Taylor, 73, of Ellaville passed away at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center on Monday, January 30, 2023.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. C.J. Yarbrough, Rev. Earl Dunmon and Rev. Mark Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be William Purvis, Ken Franks, Brian Belcher, Mark McKinsey, Dusty Yarbrough, Jonathan Gibson, and Colton Brown. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. Taylor was born May 22, 1949 in Dade County, FL to Albert and Julia Saunders Taylor.  He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  Mr. Taylor enjoyed deep sea fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Taylor and Gene Taylor; and a sister, Priscilla Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Maggie” Kelley Taylor of Ellaville; a son, James Taylor and his wife, Crystal of Ellaville; three daughters, Priscilla Brown and her husband, Charlie of Ellaville, Cassie Purvis and her husband, Shaun of Byromville, GA and Teresa Thompson and her husband Johnny of Ellaville; a brother, Joseph “Joe” Taylor of West Monroe, LA; five grandchildren, William Purvis, Colton Brown, Aliyah Brown, Alysa Brown and Katie Taylor; a god-granddaughter, Madison Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
