Reba Suddeth Gilbert

Mrs. Reba Suddeth Gilbert, 82, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA. Her wishes were to be cremated and for her family to bury her with her husband at Ft. Benning. A memorial visitation will be held on April 5, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00PM.

Mrs. Gilbert was born in Taylor County, GA, on December 14, 1942, the only child of Walter Edward and Eva Lee Jones Suddeth. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Tazewell Baptist Church when she was able. Mrs. Gilbert was a nurse for life taking care of patients, coworkers, companies, and her family. She worked in the neurosurgery and burn unit departments at the Medical Center. Her father taught her the ways of the world – if you’re going to fell one tree, plant two. Mrs. Gilbert’s paternal grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and she was proud of her heritage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Gilbert, her daughter Misty Dianna Blackston, and her daughter-in-law, Pam Moody.

She is survived by three children, Rhonda and Doug Zink of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Kenneth T. and Chrystal Mitchell of Ft. Myers, FL, and Aaron Moody of Phenix City, AL. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
