Reuben Tyler

Reuben K. Tyler, 69, of Buena Vista, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 11:00 am at Tazewell United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Harris, Reverend Bruce Vaughn, and Reverend Gene Yelverton officiating. Music will be provided by Elaine and Billy Patterson. Burial will follow the service in Tazewell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Holloday, Edward Reynolds, Ricky Maxwell, Timmie Bullard, Don Walls, Chuck Tyler and the Tazewell United Methodist Church Men. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM.

Mr. Tyler was born January 4, 1944, in Marion County, to C. W. “Ted” Tyler and Helen Pilcher Tyler. Methodist by faith, he was a member of Tazewell United Methodist Church and a former County Commissioner. He owned and operated Tyler Automotive and enjoyed farming.  Building birdhouses was a favorite hobby of his. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Tyler; by a son and daughter-in-law, Kem and Stacy Tyler; by a daughter, Donna Hair, all of Buena Vista; by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayman and Marriane Tyler, Ronnie and Patsy Tyler, and Ricky and Jeannie Tyler, all of Buena Vista; and by three sisters, Faye Tatum of Americus, Arlene Foltz of Dublin, GA, and Gail and Tommy Helms of Wax Hawk, NC. 6 Grandchildren, Samantha Hair and Cody Youngblood, Casey Hair and Stevie Jones, Andrea Tyler, Britney Tyler, Kameron Tyler, and Taner Tyler and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Caitlyn Youngblood and Hunter Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tazewell United Methodist Church.
