Rev. Kenneth Alfred “Buck” Gleason, Sr., 91, of Buena Vista passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Oakland Church of God with Rev. Luke Forsyth and Rev. Josh Carter officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shannon Gleason, George Vickery, Brantley Price, Kevin Welch, Billy Henderson, Chad Anthony, and Logan Anthony. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Fuller, Randy Fuller, David Forsyth, Kelly Hudson, and Jay Pulliam. The family will greet friends at the church on Sunday beginning at 2:00PM until service time.

Rev. Gleason was born August 8, 1931 in Frankfort, IN to Walter and Edna Harshman Gleason.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Rev. Gleason was a longtime member of Oakland Church of God and helped take care of their facilities and was willing to help with anything.  He worked for himself as a roofer and he was considered a master craftsman, building birdhouses and any other carpentry projects.  Rev. Gleason enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers with Confederate roses being his favorite.  When he was able, he loved to travel, especially taking cruises with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Gleason, Jr., his first wife, Zelma Gleason, a son-in-law, Winston Vickery; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Gleason; and eleven siblings.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Gleason of Mauk, GA; a son, Faron Gleason and his wife, Monique of Ponchatoula, LA; two daughters, Shirley “Shick” Hudson and her husband, Dean of Box Springs, GA and Rita Vickery of Ellaville, GA; two step-sons, Richard Fuller and Randy Fuller and his wife, Kitty, both of Mauk, GA; a sister, Patricia Reed of Mauk, GA; ten grandchildren, Christy Schwarting (Richard), Renee Forsyth (David), Kelly Hudson (Hannah), George Vickery (Kera), Tracy Vickery (Jay), Shannon Gleason, Sheena Henderson (Billy), Kenny Gleason, III (Crystal), Kandice Welch (Kevin), and Jennifer Gleason; two step-grandchildren, Kayla Fuller and Amber Fuller; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
