Richard Garland Callaway

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. Richard Garland Callaway, age 93, previously of Ellaville died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Cartersville Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cartersville, GA.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home with burial to follow at 4:00PM in the Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery, 1191 E. Peachtree Ave., Woodville, GA. Rev. Joel Smith will officiate.

      Mr. Callaway was born November 23, 1923 in Wilkes County, GA, the son of the late Otis Henry Callaway Sr. and Lilian Cunningham Callaway.  Before retiring, he was a banker and a business man.   Mr. Callaway had served in the Army Air Force during World War II.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 191, the Lions Club, the Masons, and the Shriners.  Mr. Callaway was a member and deacon of Woodville Baptist Church.

      Survivors include his wife, Ora Callaway; one daughter, Jane Aycock and husband James; one son, Dr. Charles A. Callaway and wife Regena; five grandchildren, Dr. Jim Callaway and wife Amelia, Ben Callaway and wife Lindsey, Elizabeth Orvis and husband Hunter, Stephen Callaway and Kayla Vercande, and Mark Bryan and wife Shannon; four great grandchildren, Allison Bryan, Chloe Bryan, Charlie Callaway, Carson Callaway; two sisters, Jean Comer and Ann McLanahan.      

     Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
