Robert "Bobby" H. Mathes

Mr. Robert “Bobby” H. Mathes, 78, of Plains, passed away at his residence on November 23, 2024. Services will be private.

Mr. Mathes was born March 22, 1946, in Stony Creek, VA to Robert L. and Maggie Gillenwater Mathes. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time with is children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Johnny Brickey and Judy R. Burton; and a brother-in-law, Bobby R. Summie.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Mathes Huerta and her husband, Rodolfo of Plains; his son, Robert “Bo” Mathes and his wife, Ann of Kingsport, TN; a brother, Rod Mathes of Fort Blackmore, VA; four sisters, Dottie Summie of Nickelsville, VA, Patricia Quillen (O’Dell) of Fort Blackmore, VA, Jeannie Perry (Dale) of Dungannon, VA, and Barbara Stanley (Farrell) of Duffield, VA; a brother-in-law, Billy Wayne Brickey of Fort Blackmore, VA; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the families of Mr. Brent Terry and Mr. Larry McCall for their help and guidance through this difficult time.
