Robert C. Mims, Sr.

Robert Calvert Mims, Sr., 84, of Morris, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA. A memorial service is planned for a later date.

Mr. Mims was born in Springvale, GA, on September 2, 1939, to Cecil Mims and Clara Louise Williams Tucker. A proud military veteran, he served in the Army in the 4^th Infantry Division. Mr. Mims was very proud of his military service and thought it was his greatest accomplishment. He considered himself a restaurateur and had owned several little country restaurants over the years. Mr. Mims loved cooking and thought he was the best cook. He worked in several restaurants over the years and also served as the cafeteria manager at Magnolia Manor in Americus. Mr. Mims also loved collecting and shopping for antiques. He eventually opened his own antique shop in his hometown. He saw value in every piece of his collection.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Robin Mims.

He is survived by five children, Mona and Brian Berryhill of Waverly Hall, GA; Stephanie Longchamps and Julie Olivia York, both of Battle Mountain, NV; Robert Calvert and Dottie Mims, Jr. of Suffolk, VA, and Robert Connor of Natchitoches, LA; a brother, Kenneth and Frances Mims of Virginia, and Remona Pfledderer of Tifton, GA. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
