Ruby Waters Grimsley Smith, 85, of Americus, formerly of Marion County, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Perfect Care in Americus, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011, at 3:00PM in the chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Parmer Cemetery in Marion County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.

Mrs. Smith was born October 12, 1925, in Taylor County, GA, to Eda and Lucille McGlamery Waters. She was a member of Red Hill Christian Church in Richland, GA, and was a homemaker. A native of Marion County, GA, she had been living in Americus for the past two years. She loved helping her friends and neighbors and her hobbies include painting and other crafts. She loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, Lester Grimsley, a daughter, Earline McAllister, a grandson, Gary Halstead, and a great-grandson, Jo Jo Chapman.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Smith of Preston, GA; by a son Clyde and Myra Grimsley of Ellaville, GA; by four daughters, Betty and Jimmy Lee of Paris, TN, Myron and Archie Lee of Clinton, NC, Mary Ann Nose and David Walters of New Port, IN, Dail Wills and Joe Christopher of Valley, AL; two brothers, Tom Waters of Mauk, GA, and Butch Waters of Box Springs, GA; four sisters, Lola Watson of Box Springs, GA, Linda Faye Coe of Ellaville, GA, Audry Forsyth of TN and Lorene Weaver of Box Springs, GA; and by 17 Grandchildren, several Great-Grandchildren and numerous Great-Great Grandchildren.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
