Rufus T. "Tom" Waters

Rufus T. "Tom" Waters, age 72, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Brown Springs Church of God with Reverend Greg Lowery, Reverend F. M. Henderson, Reverend A. R. Curlee and Reverend Jerry Woodell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Church of God Cemetery. The family received friends at Brown Springs Church of God on Friday evening from 6-8 pm. Serving as active pallbearers were Steven Lane, Justin Waters, Jacob Waters, Timothy Rumph, Justin Weaver, Jody Lane, Cody Lane, Marc Warner and Scotty Irvin.

Mr. Waters was born November 28, 1938, in Butler, GA, to Ed A. and Lucille McGlamery Waters. He was the owner of R & R Sales and Contractor, Inc. He was a member of Brown Springs Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Georgia Kay Waters, by three brothers, Robert Waters, Stacey Waters, and Truman Waters, by a sister, Ruby Grimsley, and by two children, Eddie Dewayne Waters and Dellie Wayne Waters.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rufus and Nannie Waters and Steve and Kimberly Waters all of Box Springs, GA; by two daughters, Sandra and Tim Weaver of Columbus, GA, and Samantha and Terry Lane of Buena Vista, GA; by a brother, Butch Waters of Box Springs, GA; by four sisters, Lola Watson of Box Springs, GA, Faye Coe of Ellaville, GA, Audrey Forsyth of Johnson City, TN, and Lorene Weaver of Box Springs, GA. Nine Grandchildren, Steven Lane, Justin Waters, Jennie Irvin, Tiffany Warner, Jacob Waters, Justin Weaver, Timothy Rumph, Jody Lane, and Cody Lane, and 6 Great-Grandchildren, Hailie Lane, Derek Lane, Dakota Warner, Kaydance Warner, Dixieleigh Irvin, and Sadie Mae Waters also survive.
