Ruth Blankenship

Mrs. Ruth Lee Blankenship, 72, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Magnolia Manor of Marion County. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Macedonia Cemetery in Preston, GA with Rev. Joey Lee officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Mrs. Blankenship was born in Savannah, GA, on March 7, 1943, to Jesse and Annie Battle Lee. Baptist by faith, she was a member of Plains Baptist Church and a member of the WMU. Rutchie, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, loved to craft, restore furniture and go junking. She loved to work.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Richard Blankenship and eight siblings, James (Dickie) Lee, Edna Morgan, Ruth Elder, Garland Champion, Jim Lee, Bill Lee, Doc Lee, and Davis Lee.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rutchie and Curtis Pollock of Buena Vista, GA; four brothers, Bob and Gracie Lee of Blackshear, GA, Henry and Gloria Lee of Ellaville, GA, Lonnie and Sheila Lee of Beach Island, SC, and Wynton Lee of Ashburn, GA; a sister, Becky Lee Phillips, of Ellaville, GA; five grandchildren, Melanie Lynn Rigsby, Joe Richard Pollock, John Curtis Pollock, Molly Rose Pollock, and Megan Grace Pollock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
