ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mrs. Shelvie Jean Ferguson, age 72, of Ellaville, GA died early Thursday morning, January 14, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday January 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer cemetery. Bro. Troy Fripp and Rev. Bryan Bentley will officiate.
Mrs. Ferguson was born September 19, 1937 in Coweta County, GA, the daughter of Pearl Aretha Maze Payton and Alvis Oklis Payton. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was also an active participate at the Ellaville-Schley County Senior Citizen Center.
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Thomas Ferguson. Survivors include two daughters and son in laws, Shelvie and George Tankersley of Carrollton, GA, Donna Lynn and Jody Dillard of Ellaville; one son and daughter in law, Timothy Dale and Donna Ferguson of Alpharetta, GA; one son in law, Lancy Fripp; three brothers and sister in law, Esmond and Josie Payton of Macon, GA, Danny Payton of Carrollton, GA, Ricky Payton of Carrollton, GA; three sisters and three brother in laws, Mary and Bobby Cole of Carrollton, GA, Jan and Roger Wingo of Carrollton, GA, Ann and Owen McCalman of Carrollton, GA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Shane Fripp, Aimee Ferguson, Heather Wilder, Micah Rayburn, Stephen Fripp Amber-Ley Ferguson, Payton Dillard, Jacob Dillard and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by one son, Neal Ferguson and one daughter, Shelia Marie Fripp.
Pallbearers will include Jacob Dillard, Stephen Fripp, Shane Fripp, C. J. Yarbrough, Pete Yarbrough and John Wilder. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.
