Mrs. Snipes was born May 20, 1967, in Americus, GA to Eugene and Patsy Welch Hewitt. Sherry was a consummate school teacher having served at LK Moss the past 8 years. Previously she taught for the North Carolina school system for 20 years. She loved all of her kids as if they were her own. She enjoyed yellow flowers, her back porch, antiquing, and watching the sunsets from the deer stand. Not only did she love her family, she had a fascination with her genealogy and loved to research her family history. But her most important role was that of being a child of God. She loved her Lord and lived a life to honor her Savior. She brought many to know Jesus just by being a shining light. She was a gifted Sunday school teacher and everyone loved her. In addition to her father, she was preceded by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Eunice Hewitt and her maternal grandparents, James and Kathleen Welch.
Survivors include her husband, Barry Snipes of Ellaville; her parents, Roy & Patsy Stewart of Buena Vista; three brothers, Emory Hewitt of North Carolina, Henry Hewitt (Tammy) of Pensacola, FL, and Grady Hewitt (Nicole) of Ellaville; In-laws are Betty and Talbot Harrison of Ellaville, Becky (Dan) MacMinn of Ellaville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in Sherry’s honor to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org
