Steven Parker

ELLAVILLE, GA—Mr. Steven William Parker, age 66 of Ellaville, GA died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his residence.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1256 US Highway 280 East, Americus, GA.  Mr. Tim Estes will officiate.

     Mr. Parker was born June 15, 1950 in Lumpkin, GA the son of the late Grady and Sara Parker.  He had worked at Arrow Exterminators as a technician.  He had served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Parker enjoyed being with his family, woodworking and the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He was a member of Leslie Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his wife, Amy Layfield Parker; one son, Kevin Parker of Ellaville; two brothers, Grady Parker of Milledgeville, GA, Frank Parker of Pooler, GA; one sister, Norma Parker Munn of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Sharon Layfield Skinner of Chattanooga, TN; and one brother-in-law, Thomas Layfield of Atlanta, GA.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded by one niece and one nephew.

     Visitation will be held at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice,  P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA  31709.
