Tessie Vera Ligon , age 93, of Cusseta, Ga, died Thursday, August 3 at Fountain View Nursing Home in Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Saturday at First Baptist Church in Cusseta with Rev. Mark Dixon and Rev. Mark Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA, at 3:00PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church and Kendell (Dee) Riner.
Mrs. Ligon was born December 15, 1923, in Stewart County, GA, the daughter of Lelia Evie and William W. Harry. For the past 67 years she had lived in Cusseta and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She retired from the US Postal Service where she served as postal clerk in the Cusseta Post Office for many years before transferring to the Columbus mail handling facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Ligon.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Ronnie and JoAnn Ligon of Knoxville, TN, Harry and Janice Ligon of Cusseta, daughters and son-in-law Wanda Collins of Columbus, GA, Pam and Ben of Cusseta, Peggy and Bill McGarity of Stone Mountain, GA; Grandchildren, Natalie Hamil, Jennifer Caulder, John Ligon, Brooke Sears, Malorie Webster, Will McGarity, Aaron McGarity, Scott Henson, and Mark Henson; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
