William "Bill" H. Sawyer

ELLAVILLE, GA --- Mr. William “Bill” H. Sawyer, age 94, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA.  Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.  Bro. C. J. Yarbrough and Rev. Blake Scott will officiate.

 Mr. Sawyer was born April 3, 1918 in Key West, FL. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.  Mr. Sawyer retired after 30 years, working as a pressman with the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  He was a member of Sand Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Brenda Higgins of Tennessee and three grandchildren.  Also surviving are several cousins including Ralph and Margaret Taylor of Ellaville.  Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Sawyer.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Watson-Giddens Funeral.

Active pallbearers will include Johnny Thompson, Jamie Taylor, Gary Parks Jr., Brick Barnes, Gary Parks Sr., and Steve Taylor.
