William "Bill" Nelson DeVane

Mr. William “Bill” Nelson DeVane, 61, of Ellaville, passed away after an extended illness at Perfect Care in Americus, GA.   A celebration of life will be held at Ellaville Baptist Church on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Warren Alford officiating.  The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00PM until service time.  

Mr. DeVane was born August 13, 1962 to the late Edgar, Jr. and Jane Young DeVane. Bill was a graduate of Southland Academy and went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Georgia Southwestern State University. During his time in college, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. In his earlier years, before sickness, he loved to hunt, fish and play golf.   He had a love for staying fit through weight training and bodybuilding. He was a member of the Ellaville Baptist Church and Gideons International. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. 

Survivors include the mother of his children, Sheila DeVane; a son, Edgar DeVane, a daughter, Perri DeVane, a stepson, Justin Rockenhaus (Megan); three grandchildren, Nicolas, Rhett and Riley; a brother, Joe DeVane (Debbie); a brother-in-law, Daron Wall (Stacey); aunt, Carol Sue DeVane, uncle, Roy Young (Vonnie) and several nieces and nephews.

His family is incredibly thankful to Gail Allegood and the staff at Perfect Care in Americus, GA and Pruitt Hospice, for the love and care given to him.
