Linda Icard

Mrs. Linda George Icard, 76, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Southern Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, September 27, 2021, at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at graveside.

Mrs. Icard was born in Fulton County, GA, on July 29, 1945, the only daughter of Frank and Lennie Deleshaw George. She had one brother. She met her husband, Glenn (Bernie) Icard, Jr. while working at the Sears Warehouse in the packing department. They courted by airmail during the Vietnam War and married soon after his discharge from the Air Force after only about two dates. Glenn succumbed to the ravages of Agent Orange related illness from his military service. Linda retired from the Clayton County Juvenile Court System as their receptionist where she had many friends. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, GA, and faithfully attended the bible study and Sunday School class of Norman Woods. She will be missed by her family and friends because of her generous nature, her friendly smile, and her big heart for those in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Icard, Jr., a brother, Frank George, Jr., and a sister-in-law, Lisa Icard.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg and Sheryl Icard, Sherry and Tommy McAllister, Rex Icard, and Ron and Kelli Icard; by her brother’s children, Gail Hendricks (Butch), Sheryl Gasses (Anthony), Glory Durham (Charles), and Frank George, III (Bubba); by other nieces and nephews, Greg and Ginny Icard, Jamie and Marie Icard, Dustin and Nicole Icard, Melissa and Jaime Meredith, Seth and Katelyn McAllister, Lauren and Mike Kelly, Keaton and Casey Icard, Hunter Icard, Austin Icard, and Logan Icard. Countless great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
